Service Description: This service estimates the location and mass of dry biomass in tonnes of forest harvest (public forest) and sawmill (public and private forest) residues in native forest, plantation hardwood and plantation softwood forests across NSW and contains information on bark, crown/branches, stump, green sawdust and green offcuts. This information has been collated for the Australian Biomass for Bioenergy Assessment (ABBA) Project (2015-2020) and is available for use on the National Map platform, to build a national map to service the renewable energy sector. It is also been used for the Climate Change Fund - Biomass for Bioenergy Project (2018-2023) and will be available for use on a DPI interactive tool platform that will assist a range of stakeholders including landholders/farmers, project developers, policy makers and academics. It is planned to update the dataset in the future with more current volumes and improved location accuracy of residues.
This dataset has been made available for information purposes only. No claim is made as to the accuracy or authenticity of the data. The NSW Government and this department (Department of Primary Industries - Forestry) does not accept any liability to any person for the information or advice (or the use of such information or advice) which has been provided in this dataset.
