Description: This point dataset shows the locations and types of wood processing facilities in NSW, Australia. This information was originally collated for the Australian Biomass for Bioenergy Assessment (ABBA) project and has been updated several times. It is available for use in the NSW BioSMART tool (Biomass Spatial and Modular Assessment of Resources Tool - https://www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/forestry/science/forest-carbon/biomass-for-bioenergy/nsw-biosmart) and on the National Map (https://nationalmap.gov.au/) platform.
The term facility includes businesses such as sawmillers, firewood and fencing suppliers, particleboard and plywood manufacturers. The facility data and location were collated from publicly available information. Attributes include the business name, address by town, state and postcode, and the wood type processed.

The publicly owned and managed forest extents and their names, forest type and wood type are based on Forestry Corporation NSW spatial layers. The privately owned and managed forest extents and their forest type and wood type have been provided where known. Note: the private forest extent is not complete and as more data becomes available this layer will be mapped more extensively, including the private native forests on the North Coast of NSW.
