Description: Marine Parks in New South Wales comprise of areas declared under Schedule 4 of the NSW Marine Parks Act (1997). This dataset contains the zone boundaries for Cape Byron, Solitary Islands, Port Stephens - Great Lakes, Jervis Bay, Lord Howe and Batemans Marine Parks, and NSW Aquatic Reserves..Offshore boundaries are derived from the AMSIS 3 nautical mile state waters boundary and was updated in December 2013. Landward and estuarine boundaries contain assumed or estimated mean high water positions. These should be used as a guide only, as local conditions prevail in all areas which require surveys to determine precise locations. Furthermore, these boundaries are dynamic and are likely to change over time. Coastline features are a combination of cadastral lot and topographic features. Generally the furthest landward boundary was used although in some areas the coastline feature that most closely resembled actual features as they appear in aerial imagery was adopted.Tidal limits of creeks have been estimated from DNR 2006 Survey of Mangrove and Tidal limits in NSW estuaries. Where practical, creeks have been captured in this layer until their tidal limits. Exceptions may occur where no data is available or creeks appear to be man-made drainage canals.Estuarine boundaries are estimated only and have been adopted from cadastral lot features, topographic features and digitised from aerial imagery. Generally, those estuarineboundarieswhich appeared to align with recent aerial imagery were used, to improve the usability of the layer.Aquaculture lease boundaries are taken from the DPI maintained database. For ease of use, not all OISAS priority areas in Sanctuary Zones have been mapped herein as Special Purpose Zones.Data should not be used for navigational purposes.
