Service Description: To achieve the objectives of the Fisheries Management Act, 1994 Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development has identified 'Key Fish Habitats' – those aquatic habitats that are important to the sustainability of the recreational and commercial fishing industries, the maintenance of fish populations generally, and the survival and recovery of threatened aquatic species. These datasets provide a geographic interpretation of the policy definition of Key Fish Habitat. The policy description can be found at https://www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/fishing/habitat/publications/pubs/key-fish-habitat-maps. This product includes information from data sources (listed below). Lines and areas have been added or omitted where deemed appropriate by Departmental staff. Previous versions of Key Fish Habitat mapping have been used to help inform development of this product. This dataset is indicative only and should not be considered free of error or omission. In the event of an inconsistency between this data and the policy description, the policy prevails.
